We are happy to share some highlights from the MHL Training Course in Bodrum.
The Mental Health Literacy (MHL) Training Course opened on April 2 at the BDK Youth Culture and Art Centre in Bodrum, Türkiye, gathering youth workers from across Europe to strengthen mental health support in youth spaces.
Led by Milica (Navissos, Serbia), the Day 1 session laid the groundwork by introducing the fundamentals of Mental Health Literacy. Participants explored how MHL extends beyond awareness to include practical skills: self-awareness, recognition, prevention, and management of mental health challenges.
An educational platform was also introduced as a potential tool to support youth mental health. While promising, it was clear that several areas need improvement:
-
The content needs updating to reflect current knowledge
-
Language should be adapted to younger audiences
-
The platform must be optimized for mobile use
-
Key materials should be available for download

From the second to fourth day, youth workers from Germany, Serbia, Bulgaria, and Turkey collaborated to strengthen the educational program. Together, they:
-
Reviewed and revised existing content
-
Shared best practices from their local contexts
-
Evaluated current tools and documentation, including this working resource
-
Worked on new frameworks for workshop delivery
A major focus was on developing Coping Mechanism–Management activities. The goal is to design a workshop format that youth trainers can easily adapt and use in their own training sessions.
This hands-on, cross-cultural collaboration is ensuring the program is both relevant and practical for youth workers across different settings.
