Moving young people and adults from the edge of the roomto the center of it.
Highlights e.V. designs and delivers youth exchanges, training courses and community projects that place young people and young adults as active agents of their own learning — not passive recipients of it.

Non-formal education, built with people — not delivered to them.
For over four years, Highlights e.V. has worked with a growing network of youth workers, adult educators, and partner organisations across Europe to design peer-to-peer, experiential learning that puts participants at the centre of every stage — whatever stage of life they're at.
Three stages
Identifying Needs
Every project starts with a real conversation — what do participants actually want to explore, learn, or change?
Designing Together
Partner youth workers, adult educators, and past participants help shape each programme's activities and structure, not just attend them.
Learning by Doing
Peer-to-peer, experiential methods — many participants come back to co-facilitate future editions.
The Highlights Project Fellowship
One person. One funded project. The whole journey — not just the exchange week.
I'm interested in the FellowshipFor every funded project, we open one role to someone who wants to be part of it from day one — the planning calls, the budget spreadsheets, the partner emails, the late-night "did we book the venue" panic, and everything in between.
No specific background required. Just genuine interest in the project's topic, and a willingness to show up for the whole journey — start to finish.
People grow fastest when they're handed real responsibility, not just a seat in the room.
Rooted in Erlangen, Germany, working across Europe.
Highlights e.V. runs long-term local programmes in the Erlangen–Nürnberg area, while coordinating international projects with partner organisations across 15 countries. We see every new partnership as a chance to bring what we've learned into new communities — and bring their knowledge back to ours.

Learning from one another is core to how we work.
