Speaking from the Heart: Resilience Across Cultures

On 19th July 2025, Schlossgarten in Erlangen came alive with an international gathering for our Multiplier Event — a vibrant mix of students, youth workers, and community members from the Nürnberg, Erlangen, and Fürth region. More than twenty participants, representing a truly global spectrum of cultures, joined us for a day of connection, reflection, and growth.

The event began with an energising group activity to create trust and break the ice, followed by our Resilience Board Game — a platform for conversations about personal experiences, emotional wellbeing, and strengths. What made this session remarkable was its cultural context: in Germany, open emotional sharing with strangers is not common, yet here, people from different walks of life spoke honestly about challenges, values, and hopes.

Participants told us they felt comfortable opening up and were surprised at how meaningful the discussions became. Many said the experience gave them new perspectives, helped them feel less alone, and encouraged them to take these conversations into their everyday lives.

This workshop was more than just an activity — it was a cultural moment, proving that with the right space and facilitation, people can break through social norms to have real, impactful conversations. It’s a step towards creating communities where openness, empathy, and resilience are valued and practiced.
